Well, this pic won’t win me any friends, but I don’t necessarily need any new ones. *shrug*

There now follows a rant...

I felt like drawing something else after my last HTF pic and, seeing as the fandom seems to be plagued with OCs (original character, or fan characters), I drew this. I’m sick and tired of OCs! They serve no other point than self insert and wish fulfilment (read: Mary Sues) to people unable to identify with cannon characters. If you can’t make do with cannon characters, then forget it. Especially in a fandom like HTF where the characters are flexible and very few things are considered as ”absolute cannon gospel truth”.

To paraphrase something a very talented fanfiction author once said, ”If I wanted to fall in love in with non-cannon characters, I wouldn’t be looking at FANfiction or FANart, I’d be looking at original works!”

I did consider making a less direct and more positive approach on my dislike for OCs, but then I thought, ”This is HTF, one of the most brutal cartoons around. Stuff the positive approach! If the fans can’t handle blunt criticism, they’re not mature enough to be watching something that’s not meant for ’big babies’.”

Some may now feel the urge to flame me, thinking that it somehow validates the existence of OCs. But be advised, that spewing out insults will not change things. I’m fully aware that I’m a heartless jerk, but at least I’m an honest one.

So flames will, as they should, be ignored. I’m not looking to start a war, I’m merely expressing my personal opinion on the matter and that’s all. Also note that this isn’t aimed at anyone in particular, I dislike all OCs equally.

I know I got Flippy’s bowie knife wrong (though I’m sure he has more than one of those). Despite my liking for weapons, I suck at drawing them, but I think Mime’s scythe turned out almost good. Why a scythe? Simply, because I like it. Also, I decided to make Mime’s expression a modified ”flipped out Flippy” expression, he’s not grinning as widely and his eyes are relatively normal.

Flippy and Mime belong to whoever owns the rights to the Happy Tree Friends.
